Associations of parks, Mountains, WWF Bulgaria, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, Executive Forestry Food are the finalists of the competition Natura 2000 Awards, where the European Committee has made remarkable achievements in the management and conservation on „NATURA 2000“.
 
Bulgaria is among the 27th  nominated finalists out of 79 candidates. The initiative to protect the old forests in Bulgaria competes with the awards in the category “interests agreement and perceptions”. This is a very good example for uniting the efforts of the state and NGO sectors in the favour of Nature. The jury were impressed with the efforts to save the old woods, including 109 hectares of the forest territories as woods considered to be in the old age.
This is the only Bulgarian finalist. In October the finalists in the five categories are going to be announced. Meanwhile there is a campaign on voting “Audience award“. If you want to support the Bulgarian finalist you can do it on the following link:
