During the field activities on the project “You and Lidl for a better life of the Lesser kestrel”, the team from the Society Nature Park Sakar came upon to a helpless juvenile lesser kestrel under one of the nest boxes, when they were installed at the beginning of the project. The juvenile bird was still with a fluffy plumage, prematurely made its first flight and without our help would not have made it.
 
The bird was sent to the Green Balkans Wildlife Rehabilitation and Breeding Centre in Stara Zagora for further cares until became strong enough to fly on its own.
 
We remind you the lesser kestrel is one of the rarest birds in Bulgaria. At the area of Sakar mountain, that is part of the environmental network NATURA 2000, is one of the rarest places in the country where it can be seen.

In this relation Society Nature Park Sakar initiates the project “You and Lidl for a better life of the Lesser Kestrel”, in order to take care of the species conservation. The project is fulfilled thanks to the biggest social responsible initiative of Lidl Bulgaria – “You and Lidl for a better life” together in a partnership with Workshop for Civic initiatives foundation and the Bulgarian donation forum.
