On 24th September, 2020, the team from Society Nature Park Sakar together with Historical Museum Svilengrad conducted an educational training on how to recognize the lesser kestrel together with students from the local clubs “Young Nature Researchers “ and “Green Patrols” from high-school “Dr. Peter Beron” as well some teachers and students from Primary school “Hristo Popmarkov” in the museum yard.
During the field activities on the project “You and Lidl for a better life of the Lesser kestrel”, the team from the Society Nature Park Sakar came upon to a helpless juvenile lesser kestrel under one of the nest boxes, when they were installed at the beginning of the project. The juvenile bird was still with a fluffy plumage, prematurely made its first flight and without our help would not have made it.
Students who were reading Veterinary, Ecology and Zoo-engineering from Trakia University took part in the activities of the Society Nature Park Sacar in the project “You and Lidl for a better life of the Lesser Kestrel”. The project was fulfilled due to the biggest social significant initiative of Lidl Bulgaria „You and Lidl for a better life“, in a partnership with foundation Workshop for Civic initiatives foundation and the Bulgarian donation forum.
Associations of parks, Mountains, WWF Bulgaria, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, Executive Forestry Food are the finalists of the competition Natura 2000 Awards, where the European Committee has made remarkable achievements in the management and conservation on „NATURA 2000“.
Society “Nature Park Sacar” has taken the initiative to make and erect 40 artificial nest-boxes of the Lesser Kestrel as per the latest methodology in the country, adopted by Green Balkans.
The project “You and Lidl for a better life of the Lesser Kestrel" of the Society Nature Park Sacar is among the forth finalists in the thematic field “Environment” of the biggest social significant initiative “You and Lidl for a better life“. Within the frame of the third edition of the initiative of Lidl Bulgaria funding are going to receive total 22 projects of the civil organizations within 25 dwelling places.
Fellows of the Association participated in the opening of an exhibition in the village of Matochina and an informative journalistic trip in the area of Igneada Longoz Forests National Park (Turkey) and Strandzha Nature Park in Bulgaria.
