On-site training for joint data collection at NATURA 2000 site in Bulgaria

 On 09-11.03.2018 were held a series of on-site site training for join data collection at NATURA 2000 in Bulgaria. The  trainings were attended lecturers from Istanbul University, students from University of Kikrlareli, environmentalists and youth organizations from Turkey.
 Society “Nature Park Sakar” with partner Turkish NGO “DAYKO” and experts from “Green Blakans” during On-site training demonstrated the modern methods of nature research and the use of specialized equipment. During the three-day visit, Turkish participants visited some of the most significant Natura 2000 areas on the territory of Burgas District: SCI “Strandja“ BG0001007, SPA “Strandja“ BG0002040, SPA and SCI “Mandra-Poda“ BG0000271, SPA “Pomoriisko ezero“ BG0000152, SCI “Pomorie“ BG0000620, SPA and SCI “Atanaskovsko ezero“ BG0000270. Where they had the opportunity to exercise on-site data collection in forest and riverside habitats, freshwater and brackish coastal lakes, coastal saline lake habitats and costal lake- saline lagoon. Participants also had the opportunity to visit Information Visitor Center of Directorate “Strandja Nature Park”, Nature Conservation Center “Poda”, Visitor Center “Pomorie Lake”, “Museum of Salt” in Pomorie. The experience and knowledge gained by the Turkish participants will be further used in the process of Turkey's accession to the EU and the required establishment of European ecological network NATURA 2000.
 The initiative was part of a project: “Preparation and promotion of the process of development of European ecological network NATURA2000 in Istranca Mountain CB005.1.12.135 – Interreg IPA CBC Bulgaria - Turkey Programme 2014-2020 of the European Union.
