Vice Governor of Haskovo District d-r Stefka Zdravkova will open a working meeting to project: “Preparation and promotion of the process of development of European ecological network NATURA2000 in Istranca Mountain"
On 09.02.2018г Vice Governor of Haskovo District d-r Stefka Zdravkova will open a work meeting ro project: “Preparation and promotion of the process of development of European ecological network NATURA2000 in Istranca Mountain" CB005.1.12.135 – Interreg IPA CBC Bulgaria - Turkey Programme 2014-2020 of the European Union. As part of the joint initiative, the team will hold a working meeting with experts, NGOs and representatives of competent state institutions from the Bulgarian side, on 09.02.2018 ( Friday) in Haskovo city.
The official opening of the event will be on 09.02.2018 (Friday) at 09:00 in the conference room of Hotel Drujba, Kenana Park,Haskovo city.
Society "Nature Park Sakr", Levka village, Svilengrad municipality, as the lead beneficiary of the project, implemented in partnership with Turkish NGO "DAYKO" organizes a study visit for representatives of NGOs, administration and citizens of the Republic of Turkey. The aim of the study visit is to present to the Turkish partners the process and the stages in which Bulgaria went through the construction of the European ecological network NATURA 2000. Lecturers during these activities will be experts from Green Balkans, who have a leading role in the development of NATURA 2000 in Bulgaria. The experience and knowledge gained will be used by participants in Turkey's EU accession process and related commitments to build the European ecological network NATURA 2000, especially in the Strandja region and the nearby cross-border areas.
The study trip will be held on the territory of Haskovo District in the period 08 -11.02.2018, as participants will also visit different parts of NATURA 2000. On the territory of Haskovo District are some of the most emblematic sites of the European ecological network.
At the beginning of the trip on 08.02. the group will become acquainted with the activities of Lesser Kestrel Release and Adaptation Module in Levka village in Sakar mountain, which is built by Green Balkans as part of a project under the EU's LIFE Program. In this area Society "Nature Park Sakar", performs activities for sustainable management of agricultural lands in NATURA 2000. Participants will also visit other protected sites such as Madjarovo, Ivaylovgrad Dam, Maritsa River and others. At a later stage there is also a visit to the Strandzha Nature Park.
