Young researchers from Trakia University, Stara Zagora took part in a research about nest boxes of the Lesser Kestrel in Sakar
Students who were reading Veterinary, Ecology and Zoo-engineering from Trakia University took part in the activities of the Society Nature Park Sacar in the project “You and Lidl for a better life of the Lesser Kestrel”. The project was fulfilled due to the biggest social significant initiative of Lidl Bulgaria „You and Lidl for a better life“, in a partnership with foundation Workshop for Civic initiatives foundation and the Bulgarian donation forum.
As a part of the field works young naturalists took part in the regular check-ups of the artificial nest-boxes, that were placed earlier by the team from Society “Nature park Sacar”. If you want to learn more about the nests, please look HERE.
Young vets were impressed with a couple of little owls, who were rising their five juveniles in one of the nest-boxes. During the time of the action the participants had the opportunity to see the nature of Sacar mountain, that was part of ecological network NATURA 2000.
The region around Sacar is among the locations, where the students from the universities organize their apprenticeships and practices, having in mind this is the area with great density of biodiversity.
